frequently asked questions

What does this mean for our partner agencies?

Individual meetings for the four focus areas (Promoting Self Sufficiency, Helping Children & Youth Succeed, Strengthening & Supporting Families, and Supporting Vulnerable & Aging Populations) have been held monthly with our partner agencies, as well as other organizations that provide programs, to prioritize the needs and determine the best strategies to address those needs.

Beginning with the 2006 allocation process, United Way will direct funds to the areas that will make the largest, lasting impact on our community.  The focus will be on the needs, rather than just the programs within each agency.

What does this mean for our donors?

United Way understands that donors want to know how their gifts specifically impact the needs of the community.  The community impact agenda will give donors this opportunity and allow them to direct their gifts to a specific need.

What does this mean for our community?

The community impact agenda will focus on what matters the most in the Great Grand Forks community - the bottom line results, which is improving peoples lives.  United Way will make a commitment to report back to the community the progress that is being made in meeting the needs identified by the community impact agenda.
