United Way is excited to announce that on October 1st we officially kicked off our Undies Sundays program. This event is focused on churches in the Grand Forks area to get involved and asking the community to donate new underwear, diapers, socks and personal care items. For the past three years we have received over 30,000 donations.

The Undies Sundays program lasted until October 21st. On October 27th, National Make a Difference Day, volunteers helped sort through all the donated items and came up with a final count of the results. The Hugo's locations received $990 in monetary donations which were used to purchase diapers.  These purchased diapers and collected donations combined for an astonishing total of over 12,000 items! All of the donations were then distributed on October 29th to agencies that operate shelters and Foster Care programs. Local area food shelf’s received the personal care items and diapers.

But it isn’t the number of donations that matter. What matters is the fact that people in our community were without something as basic as underwear—and now have it.
